  • February 14, 2020 - Berlin, Germany: The new managing director of the Berlinale film festival Mariette Rissenbeek (L) and the new artistic director of the Berlinale film festival Carlo Chatrian pose prior to talks with journalists for a short portrait shoot - The 70th edition of the film festival will take place from February 20, 2020 to March 1, 2020. Carlo Chatrian, is the former head of the Locarno Film Festival, and Mariette Rissenbeek, is the former managing director of the films promotion agency German Films. They have been officially confirmed as the new co-heads of the Berlinale International Film Festival early 2019. Rissenbeek and Chatrian succeed  German director of the Berlinale Film Festival Dieter Kosslick who ended his mandate after the 69th Berlinale film festival.

  • German Artist Gunter Demnig lays 'Stolpersteine' memorial cobblestones outside a residence. Each stone has a brass plaque commemorating a victim of the Holocaust and Demnig installs the stones at the front entrance of the residence where the victim last lived before being deported by the Nazis. Since beginning the project in 1995 Demnig has installed over 70,000 stones all across Europe at the request of families of victims or local authorities. Each stone is made by hand by a team of three artisans at a studio in Berlin. Stolpersteine literally translates to 'stumbling stones'.
